An Unexpected Hiatus

Hello, m’dears! The past month has been full of the unexpected in pretty much every direction. Some good, some bad, and all utterly time consuming and insane when put together.

Unfortunately one of the things on the “down” side is that my brand new studio space I had just settled into is no longer available. The owners have given us all notice, as they are going to remodel, and I need to be out by the end of the year. So in among the crazy I am trying to move out. So far I have turned this:

Into this:

But I still have a bit of moving left to do.

The result is that in the meantime all of my materials and supplies are in various boxes and bags as I attempt to rearrange my house to fit myself back into it, this time in a fashion where I might actually get something accomplished. I can’t find a thing, I have no idea which box my paintbrushes are in, and I have a large project that is only a quarter done that I am on a timeline for.

By my current estimate I am about three months behind schedule.

So I will be spending the next month trying to beat my life back into something resembling a manageable shape–and take the opportunity to do a decent inventory. I will hopefully be starting the new year with a new space, an only mildly overwhelming to-do list, a potentially less snotty attitude, and a lot more art.

Stretch goals.

In the meantime, a couple fun things to share. My daughter was inspired to make her first comic, about her bringing me things to paint all the time.:

And a couple images from the fall that make me happy:

  1. So sorry that your studio is no longer available!! And you had it so cute and handy. For all things there is a reason and you may find that this set-back is really a new and delightful opportunity.
Loved Landra’s first cartoon! Good job!!
