I am not even pretending this is a real blog post, BUT! I both STARTED and FINISHED a brand new painting! It’s the first time I can say that for over a year. Lookie, lookie!

AND I got it done in time to submit to the Hawley Art Show which starts this Thursday (6:30pm-9pm) and goes until Sunday (11am-4pm). Friday it is open 1pm–8pm and Saturday 9am-8pm, so there is plenty of opportunity to stop by. It is held at the Hawley Community Center (418 Main Street, Hawley,MN) and is my favorite show. It showcases work from Hawley Elementary, Middle, and High schools, as well as amateur and professional artists, and is just plain fun. I love this show so much I did a small, 4-minute piece for Prairie Public about it. It is a testament to small town tenacity that this show has managed to continue to thrive for 57 years and pull entries from as far away as Alaska. If you can, stop by, and see my new piece in person!
