Question: What does Georgia O’Keeffe <\/a>and a bathtub have in common?<\/p>\n

Answer: New art!<\/p>\n

Being called into the bathroom by your child to “come look at something” can go multiple ways, many of them less than pleasant. Recently, however, it was quite fun. My daughter’s hair has grown long enough that she discovered that she could make shapes and swirls with it on the side of the bathtub wall. She was so excited she called me in to look and take photos.<\/p>\n

Looking at the pictures later, I fell in love with the way the thicker strands were interspersed with the thinner. I was also reading about Georgia O’Keeffe’s desert inspired paintings at the same time, and somehow this resulted. I attempted it when I had forgotten how to paint, and destroyed it twice. Third time worked, however!<\/p>\n

I know these aren’t calla lilies<\/a>, however every time I look at this, I think of the movie Stage Door<\/a>, with Katherine Hepburn<\/a> and Ginger Rogers<\/a> (and lots of other great actresses). Katherine Hepburn<\/a> is practicing for a play and keeps repeating the line “The calla lilies are in bloom again. Such a strange flower. Suitable to any occasion.” Each time I look at this piece that line keeps repeating in my head. So maybe they are the spirit of calla lilies? Or maybe I am insane. Or both, as the options aren’t mutually exclusive. Either way, it’s interesting.<\/p>\n

And I highly recommend the movie. It’s pretty fabulous.<\/p>\n
