Sometimes so many big things are happening all at once, it is only possible to accomplish the little things.
So remember the pieces I tried to do that were based on the Mira Calligraphiae Monumenta? Even if they were far from perfect, I decided I wanted to do more of them. As you know, I did four of them previously, and they got a little better each time. So! To continue.
I did go back and put in a simple shadow to the one I liked best of the original four. It doesn’t probably make a huge difference, but it makes me happy, which is what I have decided is all that really matters (the shadows look more bold in the originals than in the scans):

Calligraphy & Gouache
4×6
Then I came across this quote by Buddha and loved it, so:

Calligraphy & Gouache
4×6
Then, because I can’t leave well enough alone, I decided that I didn’t like that calligraphy font. So, what do I do when pressed for time and overwhelmed by deadlines? Decide that even though calligraphy is my weakest thing, to take up a different calligraphy hand. Because logic clearly plays no part whatever in my artistic and time-management decisions.
I practiced this hand a TON before doing them, and it clearly demonstrates that calligraphy is still my weakest area.

Calligraphy & Gouache
4×6
And I decided to re-do this quote, since the first one I did was the worst one:

Calligraphy & Gouache
4×6
However, I think they are cute, and will make adorable little greeting cards, so I am more happy than I am displeased. I want to do more of them, but the hardest part is finding good quotes in the public record. So if you know any good ones, or have your favorites on hand, please send them my way! You never know what will come flying out of my excitable brain.
